eNergy App from eLifespaces

eNergy, the latest app by eLifespaces, was overlooked by Google last week as they and 45 other companies sent a public letter soliciting support from President Barack Obama suggesting federal support for technology that gives utility customers access to information about their energy and utility consumption.  Seeking to tear down barriers posed by multitudes of local utility companies, the letter seeks to allow utility customers access rights to their individual information.

Currently in development, eNergy, provides a homeowner or business facility manager the ability to monitor and manage their energy consumption via an iPad, iPhones or computer (Apple or PC).  These devices will act as your personal remote monitoring tool. Sending codes over a secured WiFi connection in your home or office, eNergy receives consumption data directly, allowing the user to monitor and, if required, modify energy consumption behavior.

Evolution in this application has already led our development teams into system integration with other electronic systems such as lighting / energy control, security, and motorization (including light harvesting).  Unfortunately, may of these efforts may soon “die on the vine” because funding innovation becomes more costly than the smaller and more innovative companies can endure.

Our hopes are to continually be recognized by our community (as we were today in our Post Courier – http://www.postandcourier.com/news/2010/apr/05/05memosdistinct/) in providing real solutions to the real challenges that we face.

I like the fact that it can be used with the PC!!!

  2. Patrick Clise says:

Very cool App, need a beta tester!?!

  3. TigerMan says:

How about balancing energy consumption. For example, if you start to draw too much power, the control system will pause non-critical functions and allow them to re-engage when the peak demand falls off. Heated floors come to mind, pools, and a host of other ideas.

TigerMan, time to finish your EE degree. Need your insights and help on the next series of apps. We’re not big enough for the Googles of the world. We are going to have to out-engineer them!

  5. Agee says:

Being able to determine which appliances use the most energy and when will be very useful information, bottom line.

This new technology and innovation provides great insight into how we each as consumers use energy in our homes on a daily basis. With a management tool like this understanding how and where we consume our energy will allow us to better manage the amounts that we use and hopefully lead to lower consumption rates. As far as government funding towards this goes, I think it will take statistical data and beta tests to prove that there is an impact and a benefit for them to consider taking it on.Personally I think this is a great tool and a step in the green and lower consumption direction.
