It appears that Google’s plans for television may be viewed as a threat by established television businesses. According to news reports (see link above) big television broadcasters are cutting the pipe to Google preventing access to their respective shows.
Google TV, available this month, allows consumers to access Web content on their television screens. This type of momentum from broadcaster, including NBC, ABC, and CBS, has the potential to create havoc with Google’s plans to expand the computer’s reach into the living room.
Network News Alienates Audiences

Losing more that 565 thousand viewers during 2009 (and soon the loss of our household in 2010), the “big three” network news groups appear to be out-of-touch with their audience. If the news weren’t depressing enough, we become bombarded with drug commercials more depressing than the news itself, discussing each drugs respective side affects (including depression, suicide, heart attach, vomiting, diarrhea, etc.). And if this weren’t bad enough, the sheer proportion of news versus commercials had grown out of whack. So tonight (6/22/2010), while the children were away at camps and other summer activities, we sat when pen and paper and documented the news broadcast. Here is what we found… (more…)

“Background, Camera, ACTION!” were words heard throughout the day in my self indulged day off as I joined our neighbors, Lifetime’s Army Wives, as a “background” extra on the set of an upcoming episode. My stage name, “the professor”, because that was the part I was to play across from Harry Hamlin (my fellow law professor) in the courtyard of the law school. Gremlins @ the Volume Control

My television is possessed by a gremlin, determined that the volume must be at full throttle when automobile commercials are aired! All of my family members know the location of the “mute” button, a direct result of the loudness in television programming. (more…)
